About Me

I’m Dave Sanderson — an enthusiastic wildlife and nature photographer based in South, Australia, with a deep-rooted connection to the land and a lifelong fascination with the stories that live within it.

My photographic work focuses on the raw beauty, quiet resilience, and complex fragility of the Australian landscape. I’m particularly drawn to places where nature and industry intersect — remote deserts, forgotten roads, and working lands shaped by both ecological wonder and human impact. My aim is not simply to capture a scene, but to distill a story: one that reflects the emotional tension, solitude, and fleeting magic found in wild places.

In 2024 and 2025, I was honoured to be selected as a finalist in the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year, one of the most prestigious competitions in the Southern Hemisphere. My image Curious Dingo Pup was chosen as the cover photograph for the official 2024 competition book — a defining moment in my career that underscored my commitment to telling stories with depth, authenticity, and feeling.

In 2025, my image Oilfields in Bloom was recognised in the Our Impact category. It captured a desert bloom erupting in colour around the steel and machinery of a Beam Pump. That photograph, which has been described as both confronting and poetic, speaks to a recurring theme in my work — the uneasy balance between progress and preservation.

Over the past several years, my photography has been exhibited across Australia, Europe, the UK, and North America,

Thank you for visiting.
