2024 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the year

To have my photograph “Curious Dingo Pup” selected as a finalist in the prestigious Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the year exhibition was something I genuinely never took lightly, and incredibly my image graced the cover of the exhibition book!

In 2024, the competition received 1,856 photographs submitted by 442 photographers across 12 countries, making the selection process incredibly competitive. The judging panel — including Chrissie Goldrick, Petra Leary, and Andrew Meares — faced the enormous task of narrowing down an exceptionally high calibre field of entries.

What made it even more humbling was the history behind the exhibition itself. The competition has long been regarded as one of Australia’s most respected nature photography awards, with a legacy built by some of the finest wildlife and landscape photographers in the country.

A sincere thank you to the judges, Australian Geographic, and the South Australian Museum for supporting nature photography and conservation storytelling through such an iconic exhibition.

And finally, congratulations to every shortlisted finalist — and equally to those who entered but didn’t make the final cut. Photography has always been a strange mix of patience, timing, luck, persistence, and heart. We miss every shot we don’t take, so keep the camera close and the focus ready.
